Getting a beautiful European spruce top braced up, carved and ready glue up.
New Guitars for GFA and Rosewood
Finally got these guys photographed and ready to go. Really happy with how they turned out. Big, lively and balanced sound with a lot of detail, timbrel variety and projection.
Two New Guitars Off The Bench
Two new guitars off the bench! There are still a couple things to fuss over, but they are basically done. One is going to the GFA convention later this month and the other is going to the Rosewood Guitar shop.
Adventures In Tedium
French polishing two new concert models and building a rosette for a new Antonio de Torres inspired guitar.
Neck Carving and Finishing Things Up
Slowly but surely getting these two guitars ready for finish!
The Macassar ebony fingerboard goes great with this intensely colored and striped western red cedar top. The Lutz spruce top on the other guitar has some really cool looking bear claw figure right below where the bridge will go.
Back To Work!!!
Finally back into some sort of work rhythm after being on and off vacation for a couple of weeks. I wish I was still on vacation, but at least I get to come back to these guys!
One cedar and one spruce. At least one of these is going to the GFA. Gluing up boxes, fitting binding and getting necks ready. Almost there...
Fitting and Carving Braces
Finally back in town for while and back in the shop. Fitting and carving braces. Fussing and getting everything ready to close up the box.
Back In The Shop and Gluing Braces...
Finally back in the shop after spending the week driving up and down the coast through California and Oregon. Getting some gluing done on some new instruments before I head back out to New York this weekend. Busy times...
New Cedar Concert Model, Ferry Rides and Pigeon
Finished up a new custom guitar for client that's shipping out on Monday. Super lively cedar top with some beautifully glassy sounding Indian rosewood back and sides. Spanish cedar neck reinforced with carbon fiber. Handmade and hand engraved Alessi "Leaves" tuners with mother of pearl buttons. Twelve hole bridge with mother of pearl tie block. Really fun to play.
In other news, took the ferry to Vashon last night just in time for a pretty awesome sunset. I know it's cheesy, but oh well. Pigeon friend.
Twinsies and NW Guitar fest
Two new guitars fresh off the bench. I forgot my camera at home, so these are just cell phone photos. I'll have some better ones up soon.
These are both very beautiful sounding instruments. The spruce is clear and very elegant sounding. The cedar already a bit more open sounding, but very similar in terms of its voice. I'm sad to see them go so soon, but of course excited to move onto the next projects!
Also, a few photos courtesy of Mark Wilson from hanging at the bar after the Northwest Guitar Festival and Competition with Michael Nicolella, Ben Verdery, Michael Partington, Jason Williams, Kevin Callahan and Satchel Henneman.
